Intent to Apply
The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, in partnership with the Washoe County School District, White Pine County School District, and Pinecrest Academy of Northern Nevada, is submitting an intent to apply to the Nevada Department of Education for a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant. This grant directly aligns with the Boys & Girls Club’s mission to serve the community, especially those who need us most.
This program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children. Centers provide a range of high-quality services to support student learning and development. This includes mentoring, homework help, academic enrichment, and community service opportunities, as well as music, arts, sports, and cultural activities.
The program helps students meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math. It also offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs. Finally, 21st Century Community Learning Centers offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children.
